WILLIAM ROWLEY
William Arthur Rowley, 93, a longtime resident of Richmond, died
Thursday, June 2, 2005, in Mount Clemens General Hospital.
He was born June 2, 1912, in Lenox Township, the son of William and Mary (Ward) Rowley. On March 20, 1942, he married Arleen Hartway in Ohio. Mr. Rowley graduated from Richmond High School in 1931 and attended Michigan State University for a year. He was a self-employed farmer who started hauling milk in 1926. He was a member of the Michigan Milk Producers, Farm Bureau, A.S.C.S. Committee in Lansing, Macomb County Library Board, Macomb County Planning Commission, Federal Land Bank, Richmond Historical Society, Shriners, Memphis Masonic Lodge, past president of the Richmond Lions Club, Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce, past supervisor of Richmond Township, founding board member of Oakland University and First United Methodist Church is Richmond. He was a recipient of the Lion's Melvin Jones award. He is survived by two sons, William (Janice) Rowley and Robert (Mary Ann) Rowley, both of Richmond; two daughters, Christine (Thomas) Hebel and Barbara (J.W.) Smith, both of Richmond; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Arlene, on March 28, 1990; a son, John Rowley in 2001; and a brother, James Ward Rowley in 1959. Services were held Tuesday, June 6, in the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Trevor Herm officiated. Entombment was in Richmond Mausoleum. Arrangements were by Rewalt Funeral Home & Cremation Services LLC in Richmond. | |
