Charles PalmerWOODSFIELD -- Charles B. Palmer, 74, of Keylor Road, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer.Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, 702 E. Main St., Barnesville with Minister Wayne Clark officiating. Burial will be in Jerusalem Cemetery, with full military graveside service by Belmont County Council Veterans of Foreign Wars. Friends may call today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Schiffer Cancer Center, in care of Wheeling Medical Park Hospital or to the American Red Cross. He was born May 13, 1927, in Columbus to Basil Palmer and Vera (Tillet) Palmer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was retired and was a member of the Beallsville First Christian Church, the Monroe County CB Club and Barnesville Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Phyllis) Ady of Marshallville and Mrs. Greg (Shirley) Brown of Woodsfield; a son, Charles "Chuck" and wife, Linda Palmer of Barnesville; a stepdaughter, Crystal Thomas of Massillon; an adopted son, Edward Pittman of Wooster; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Shelvie Boles of Beallsville; a brother, Lawrence "Sonny" Palmer of Woodsfield and a half-brother, Hubert Rowley of Barnesville.
His first wife, Ruth (Henthorn) Palmer, his second wife, Doris
(Johnson) Palmer, an infant granddaughter, two brothers, Roger and
George Palmer, half-brothers, James Smith and Leroy and Victor
Rowley, a sister, Jane (Palmer) Mellott and a half-sister, Gertrude
(Rowley) Truax, died previously.
